St Andrews Golfer Transport
St Andrews is a small town and is eminently walkable. Most restaurants, bars and other attractions are within walking distance of the hotels.
Golf is a game of tradition at the birthplace of the sport. Playing the Old Course is a must for every golf enthusiast. You can reserve a tee time at the Old Course up to a year in advance or try your luck in the daily ballot.
Airport Transfers St Andrews
Whether you are traveling alone or in a group, there are several airport transfer options to choose from. Private transfers are a convenient way to travel in style, while shuttle services and express buses offer an affordable alternative.
Taxis are also available at the airport, but they can be expensive. It is important to book in advance if you are arriving early or late in the day, as taxis may not be available at these times.
The easiest way to get from Edinburgh Airport to St Andrews is by train to Halbeath Park and Ride and then taking the Stagecoach X24 or X59 bus to St Andrews. This option takes about two hours.
Self-Drive
St Andrews is a popular destination for golfers and with good reason. The town is home to the Old Course, one of the most iconic in golf. The Old Course is also open to the public, which means you can play the course without the high price tag of a private member’s club.
There are several ways to get to St Andrews, including flying into Edinburgh or Glasgow. From the airport, you can rent a car to drive directly to the Home of Golf.
Alternatively, you can take the train to Leuchars and hop on a shuttle bus from there to St Andrews. The local buses are fairly frequent and offer a convenient way to get around St Andrews during the tournament. The shuttle buses will drop you off at the Links Clubhouse, Kingsbarns and the Old Pavilion by the first tee. Then, you can walk from there to the courses. The shuttle buses run in high season from Monday to Saturday.
Helicopter Transfers
Helicopters are the perfect way to get to the golf courses in Scotland and Ireland. They are the quickest way to travel and can allow you to play two outstanding courses on the same day!
Helicopter transfers can be arranged from either Glasgow, Edinburgh or Dundee Airport and include 1 x golf bag and 1 x piece of luggage per person. We recommend a pick up time of around 1 hour 30 minutes prior to your pre-booked tee-time. This will ensure you are back at the hotel with sufficient time to freshen up before heading out for dinner or drinks in the town.
The Old Course at St Andrews has been played by legends like Jack Nicklaus, Arnold Palmer and Gary Player. After playing, walk just 3 minutes over the Swilcan Bridge to the Old Course Hotel for a pint of beer while sharing stories and photos of your miraculous (and not so wonderful) shots on this iconic course!
Private Transfers St Andrews
Whether you’re a golf fanatic or just want to enjoy the town’s historic university and medieval streets, St Andrews has something for everyone. The Old Course is the birthplace of golf, and it continues to challenge today’s champions.
Renting a car gives you the freedom to explore the area at your own pace, but be aware that driving in Scotland may take some getting used to. You’ll need a valid driver’s license and insurance, as well as a GPS device to help navigate the roads.
If you’re looking for an easy way to get around, a shuttle bus or private transfer might be the best option for you. These services will save you the hassle of hauling golf bags and other luggage on public transport. They also offer additional amenities like golf bag storage and a complimentary shuttle buggy service to the first tee. Moreover, they include the cost of your green fees in the final price.
